The third annual Brookly Blogfest will be happening this May 8, 2008 at 8pm at the Brooklyn Lyceum. Admission is $10 and $5 for students. The Lyceum is at 227 Frouth Ave at President St. in Park Slope.

Come to our screen play reading kickoff. We'll be reading approximately 5 pages from various author's and having a short discussion afterwards.

We are writers and artists who get together to bring life to 5 pages of a script. Writer's get to hear their work performed by actors and actors get to practice their scene interpretations.

It seems to me that the first thing we need to do is figure out how we would like the group to function so that we can produce a good number of high quality videos.

So we need to define the process and mission of the group and we need to start getting ideas and scripts for videos.

When can you meet?  What should we do next? 

I just put together an act/beat outline sheet from various different books that I've read on structure--mostly Blake Snyder, and Paul Joseph Gulino, with a little Syd Field thrown in.

Can it be done? We'll find out.  We'll follow the schedule outlined in Viki Kings book.

Our goals include

• Put together a book called The Best of Brooklyn Bloggers
• Use video equipment to interview people, get exposure for people
• Video activism: use video equipment to show social problems, then organize events to address those problems - e.g. neighborhood cleanups
• Have a wire service - e.g. Reuters - so there's a repository of stories that people could draw from
• Host debates between local politicians
• Monetize our assets - figure out how to get paid for our work
